Job Description:

HGV Technician – 1 Year Experience Required – Somerset – Permanent Role

Salary: £20-22ph (based on experience)
Overtime: Paid at time and a half after 40 hours

Working Hours:
Monday to Friday 07:00-18:00 (30 mins break) + Alternate Saturdays 07:00-12:00

Requirements:

• Technical qualification (City & Guilds or NVQ qualified technician) or proven experience in repairing and maintaining vehicles.
• Current driving license.

Silver Arrow is seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join a prestigious and specialized transport company based in Henstridge.

Responsibilities:

• Perform service and repair work on the Automotive fleet efficiently and competently, maintaining the required level of quality and adhering to standard times where possible.
• Conduct routine and preventative maintenance and inspections of the Automotive fleet in compliance with Customers’ Operating License requirements. Record all defects found and rectification work accurately on the workshop IT systems and/or statutory documents.
• Ensure completion of all job cards and service/inspection sheets in a proper and legible manner.
• Utilize PC diagnostics to identify faults and clear fault codes using technical and computer skills.
• Conduct road tests on vehicles before and after working on them.
• Understand and adhere to parts order procedures, warranty claims, and exchange items.
• Ensure customer requirements and expectations are met by providing quality workmanship.
• Handle all customer and company vehicles and property, including workshop tools and equipment, with due care and attention at all times.
• Adhere to company health and safety and environmental procedures, using safe working practices and reporting any potential hazards/incidents to the Workshop Controller.
• Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness, cleaning up after completing each job and returning all tools used to their correct place.
• Uphold a professional standard of work and behavior at all times. Be helpful and supportive to colleagues and customers.

• Capability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proactive in seeking solutions to problems.
• Strong customer service, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ideally with a current LGV C+E Licence.
• Knowledge of legislated licensing requirements (e.g., Driver CPC – European Markets).
• Awareness and understanding of health and safety requirements.
